Starting CloudOptimizer on RightScale

Introduction

Three CloudOptimizer ServerTemplates are available on RightScale: the Client Edition ServerTemplate, the Cloud Edition ServerTemplate, and the MySQL Edition ServerTemplate. Choose the instructions that match the ServerTemplate you plan to use. The Client Edition and MySQL Edition ServerTemplates correspond to the Client Software edition of CloudOptimizer and the Cloud Edition ServerTemplate corresponds to the Cloud VA edition. Starting CloudOptimizer Instances

Follow the procedure for the ServerTemplate that you want to use.

Starting a CloudOptimizer Client Edition Instance

You can find the RightScale CloudOptimizer Endpoint server template at:

https://my.rightscale.com/library/server_templates/CloudOptimizer-Client-Edition/lineage/14104

1. Log in to RightScale.

2. Navigate to the MultiCloud Marketplace and select ServerTemplates.

3. Search for CloudOptimizer Client Edition and import it.

4. Click the Add Server button.

5. Select Cloud and Deployment and click Continue.

These settings are not specific to CloudOptimizer. For additional information, please refer to RightScale's support documentation at http://support.rightscale.com/.

The current version of the Client ServerTemplate supports all AWS regions, RackSpace and RackSpace UK, Eucalyptus, and CloudStack-based clouds.

When you click Continue, the Server Details page opens.

6. Make any necessary changes to the Server Details and click Confirm.

These settings are not specific to CloudOptimizer. For additional information, please refer to RightScale's support documentation at http://support.rightscale.com/.

The minimum configuration necessary to proceed to the next step is to select an SSH Key and a Security Group.

When you click the Confirm button, the Confirm page opens.

7. Make any necessary changes to the Confirm page and click Finish.

When you click Finish, the Server page opens.

8. Click the Inputs tab.

9. Click the Edit button.

Make changes to the inputs that you want to configure.

All inputs are optional.

For an explanation of the available inputs, see CloudOptimizer RightScale Server Template Inputs.

10. Click the Save button.

11. If you need to make additional server configuration changes, do so now.

12. Click the Launch button.

The Launch Inputs will be displayed.

13. Click the Launch button.

RightScale will now start the CloudOptimizer Endpoint instance.

Starting a CloudOptimizer Cloud Edition Instance

You can find the CloudOptimizer Cloud ServerTemplate at https://my.rightscale.com/library/server_templates/CloudOptimizer-Cloud-Edition/lineage/14118

1. Log in to RightScale.

2. Navigate to the MultiCloud Marketplace and select ServerTemplates.

3. Search for CloudOptimizer Cloud and select it.

4. Click the Add Server button.

5. Select Cloud and Deployment and click Continue.
